Simulation and Synthesis of Cobalt (Co) Nanoparticles by Gamma Radiation Technique

Cobalt nanoparticles were synthesized using the gamma radiolytic technique, and particle size was found to be reduced from 12±1 7±1 nm by increasing dose 10 60 kGy. The UV-visible absorption spectra measured exhibited a steady maxima at 517 in UV region, which blue-shifted toward lower wavelength with decrease size. By taking conduction electrons of an isolated that are not entirely free but instead bound their respective quantum levels, optical cobalt can calculated simulated via intra-band excitation for sizes comparable ones. We electronic excitations corresponded maxima. Moreover, structural characterizations performed utilizing dynamic light scattering (DLS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD).
